Tim Grobart, the 5-year-old heart transplant recipient featured in Chicago Sun-Times’ stories about the June move to the new Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, is back home in Lombard and heading out on the town, at least on Friday night. Check out what the Sun Times says about his progress in a recent article.
Here’s a synopsis of what Tim and his family had to say:
“We’re going out to dinner tonight to a Brazilian steak house,” said his father, Jeff Grobart, on Friday afternoon.
After his overnight transplant surgery from June 19 to June 20, Tim remained at Lurie Children’s until July 16, when he was admitted to the Ronald McDonald house. On July 26, he headed home to Lombard.
His dad says Tim’s thriving at home. “The difference between him [at the Ronald McDonald house] and him at home is nothing but a rocket taking off.”
Tim’s scheduled to start kindergarten this fall, but in the meantime, he’s just excited to play with his brothers, sleep in his own bed and really just be a kid.
We’re excited for you too, Tim.
