Surviving cancer, a bad breakup and a mugging was hard enough — then Rob Garofalo, MD, was diagnosed with HIV. As the head of our adolescent medicine services and the Center for Gender, Sexuality and HIV Prevention, Dr. Garofalo had devoted his career to counseling adolescents affected by HIV/AIDS, but being on the other side of the divide changed his life.

And then he met Fred.
